BIGFOOT Social Networking Conference - It ROCKED!

Wow! Can I get my ticket now for next year? I learned so much! Thank you so much!

These are just a few of the glowing comments heard following the North Mason Chamber's Bigfoot social networking/social media conference held recently at the Kitsap Conference Center Bremerton Harborside. The event, wholly owned by your chamber of commerce, has universally been proclaimed a huge success with attendance coming in at 30% over budget.

You can watch the videos, checkout the complete list of presenters and sponsors, and read comments at http://www.bigfootsnc.com. Stephanie Horton, Tabitha Swearingen, and all the volunteers did a fantastic job. Look for the event to become an annual Northwest conference that the Westsound can be proud of.

As Frank Kenny, President/CEO of the North Mason Chamber said during opening remarks, social networking is about relationships, not technology. That message was driven home time and again by the nationally known keynote speakers and the regional experts.

The 13 speakers brought unique perspectives on their approach to social networking.

The opening keynoter, internationally known and bestselling author Chris Widener, discussed how his Facebook fan page grew to more than 180,000 members. For the entrepreneurs in the room, he covered the importance of maintaining ownership of contact information for your connections because those lists have monetary value. Chris also gave a great presentation on leadership skills and abilities, relating it back to social media. It was a huge coup to have someone of Chris' stature on hand.

The Rabbi Daniel Lapin, the lunch keynoter, delivered an at times hilarious presentation covering modern social networking concepts and ancient Jewish wisdom. He discussed the beauty of making money (gasp - profit) from being of value to your fellow man. After his presentation, long lines formed to buy his books.

The closing keynoter, Barry Moltz, speaking to a still packed room after a long day of networking and learning, spoke on customer service in the Internet age. Barry resides in Chicago and graciously made the trip to speak to our group. His presentation was extremely well received.

The 10 other breakout presentations, all from local northwest experts, covered how non-profits are using social media, discussed creating a corporate plan for social networking, discussed the trend towards handheld devices for business, and so much more……Politics, etiquette, relationships, blogging, marketing and sales, etc…..were covered. It was a fun and fast paced day that people are still raving about.

Thank you to all who attended and a special thank you to our BIGFOOT sponsors. See you all next year!
