Public Utility District #3 Fiber Optic Network

The Public Utility District 3 (PUD3) fiber optic network of North Mason has been designed from the ground up to deliver broadband connections now and well into the future.

Ethernet and fiber optic technologies allow quick and easy connections that do not require telephone lines but instead, operate independently. Approximately 400 miles of fiber optic backbone and distribution has been constructed and currently serves the core areas of Allyn, Belfair and Shelton. You can view the backbone system in Mason County, and the areas where the PUD has distribution networks to serve businesses and residents on maps provided at the PUD's website at masonpud3.org.

The PUD 3 fiber optics network is a reliable, fast, expandable system, which can carry many services, including telephone, high speed Internet service, cable and high definition television programming, networking and data services for business, security monitoring, and video conferencing. Residents and businesses will not have to worry about bandwidth availability for years to come.

PUD 3 is a wholesale provider of telecommunications services to five area businesses that resell the services made available through the PUD network to consumers. The PUD provides a 100mb Ethernet connection in a gateway box located near your power meter. Through a local retail provider, you connect your home and/or business network to the gateway box. The PUD bills your retailer for the amount of bandwidth or data transport that you use on the PUD system, providing unlimited flexibility. Retailers include Adjicent Technologies at adjicent.com ; Donobi at donobi.com ; Hood Canal Communications at hcc.net; ReachOne Internet at reachone.com/mason; and NoaNet at noanet.net.
