Allyn and Victor

ALLYN
The small sea-side village of Allyn lies just four miles south of Belfair on SR-3. Best known for its legendary community pride, Allyn overlooks Puget Sound's Case Inlet, also known as North Bay. A popular destination for boaters in South Puget Sound, Allyn's waters flow to neighboring Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia and all points in between.

First platted in 1889 by the pioneer families of Eberhart and Wickersham, Allyn had its own post office, school, newspaper, sawmill, hotel and wharf by 1890. Today the Allyn shoreline still reflects the history and beauty of the area, including the historic Allyn dock and pier, which was built in 1922 and originally used for mail delivery, ferry passengers, trade and commerce. The dock serves as a transient moorage facility, with 10 slips and an 80-foot gangway. Potable water and a coin-operated marine pump-out unit are also available throughout the boating season. Two launch ramps are accessible during most tides.

Perhaps the town's most popular asset is the Allyn Waterfront Park, owned and managed by the Port of Allyn (portofallyn.com), which also maintains an office on the property. The park is located at the north end of town and features a large, charming outdoor gazebo built by community volunteers, along with expansive green lawns, gardens, restrooms and a children's play area.

The North Bay Kayak Park, also owned and maintained by the Port of Allyn, is located on SR-3 at the south end of town. This community park offers beach access, a picnic area and portable restroom and is very popular with kayakers, fishermen and local residents.

Nearby on SR-3, the Allyn Historic Church, affectionately known as "the little white church by the side of the road," was first established in 1907. It is Allyn's oldest building and under continuous renovation spearheaded by a dedicated board of directors, with the help of the North Bay Historical Society and local citizens.

Allyn has a market, restaurant, bank, several retail stores, a real estate office and espresso. A new 40-foot totem pole was recently carved at the intersection of North Bay Road and SR-3 at the site of Ornamental Stone, (ornamentalstone.com), a locally-owned business selling hand-casted exposed aggregate stone products.

Further down on SR-3 in the heart of town, you can't miss the buzzing of busy chainsaws accompanied by a whimsical display of wooden wildlife and other carvings at George Kenny's School of Chainsaw Carving (bearinabox.com). The business often hosts carving competitions and puts on demonstrations at special events. Visitors are always welcome.

Up the hill on LakeLand Way, lies the 900 acres of LakeLand Village, a popular residential golf community first established by the Anderson family in 1965 (lakelandliving.com). A premier 27-hole golf course with over 9,000 yards of greens and fairways open to the public is backed by panoramic views of the Olympics and Mt. Rainier.

VICTOR
The neighborhood known as Victor lies along the eastern shoreline of Case Inlet across the bay from Allyn on SR-302. Victor residents have long given meaning to the term "neighborly" and celebrate their friendships at monthly meetings of the Victor Improvement Club, built in 1932. The club was
constructed with volunteer labor and donated land at a total cost of $300. Meetings have been held continuously since the club's inception over 70 years ago!

Annual events include a popular flea market, seasonal dances and fundraisers. The historic Victor Hall with its old-fashioned wooden dance floor and modern kitchen facilities is available for rent to families, organizations and groups.
