Professional Development GroupShawna Stice-Hawley, Edward Jones Belfair, Chair; all are welcome to attend this new group, launched in 2015. Usually meets on the second Tuesday of the month at REID Realty, 23861 WA-3, Belfair. Our Professional Development Group offers a unique networking and educational experience, the objective: to provide a connection to your business community and chamber of commerce; mentor and support other professionals and entrepreneurs. RSVPs are not required, but much appreciated. Please email Shawna Stice-Hawley.

Our Ambassadors work together as representatives of the Chamber to assure that all members, whether new or seasoned, are personally welcomed at Chamber events, every time.  They also represent the Chamber within the community, seeking new information about possible new businesses and organizations that would benefit from a membership. Ambassadors also collect feedback on how the Chamber can better serve its members and the community at large. Committee meets on the third Wednesday of the month at Shawna Stice-Hawley’s office, Edward Jones, in Belfair.

EVENT: Ambassadors welcome our members at all of our events, especially our monthly luncheons. They also volunteer at our various fundraisers, such as Taste of Hood Canal and OysterFest, and more!

The mission of the government Affairs Committee shall be to monitor and report to the North Mason Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees relevant legislative issues that could affect business. Vision: by monitoring these issues, the Board of trustees can evaluate and determine if the chamber should take a position on a specific issue.

EVENT: Candidate Forum

Education Committee: Pamela White, Outlook Writing & Design, Chair; Pam Volz, WorkSource Mason County; Jenny Grenfell, North Mason Timberland Library; Cat Ross, Friend of the Chamber; Joan Moore, Theler Community Center. Check with Pamela White for next meeting date.

Consider education needs and programs within the community for students and/or community members that will promote business development, assist the chamber and educate community members and/or students. Work with North Mason School District to encourage businesses to provide mentor and internship opportunities for students. Craft innovative solutions to help students achieve the education necessary to compete for gainful employment in the local community.

Shop Local & Beautification:  Kim Haack, Kitsap Bank, Chair; Pam Hanson, Cameo Boutique & Wine Shop; Leanne Sanchez, Hood Canal Travel, Cat Ross, Friend of the Chamber. Check with Kim Haack for next meeting date.

Assist Chamber in promoting Shop Local Program throughout the community. Includes working one day a year at Scott McLendon’s annual pancake feed and breakfast. Report on Shop Local efforts at monthly membership meetings, as needed. NEW: Plan and manage annual “Shop-a-Thon” business expo and sale every spring. NEW in the summer of 2016, we are setting up a Beautification Committee. Please check with Kim Haack for meeting dates.

Visit Union: Stephanie Rowland, Temporary Chair; Kerry Myers, Hood Canal Events; Trudy Hendricks, Alpine Way Continuing Care Campus; Darren Eisele, Hood Canal Communications; Julia Gillespie, Lucky Dog Casino; Melanie A. Douglas, M.A.D. Real Estate Solutions, Inc.; Nancy Johnson, New Community Church of Union; Kevin Elbert, Northwest Cascade/Flohawks; Amanda Montgomery, Reliant Builders, LLC; James Bell, Smartmeme Studios.

This committee is dedicated to bringing business and tourism to Union and the surrounding communities. New in 2016, the chamber hosts four quarterly luncheon meetings in Union for the general membership at Alderbrook Resort & Spa. Please check with Stephanie Rowland for committee meeting dates.

Gala Auction –

Assist Chamber in securing auction items for annual installation gala. Includes assigning team captains for each auction “package,” assuring that the package items come in, are wrapped for presentation, and a written list of all items and donators is typed up for inclusion in gala program materials.
